Red Light Camera Has Extended Delay For Ticket

by: bobajob on

Hello Folks,

Well please confirm a couple of things.

1> Red Light Camera ticket is a "parking ticket" in essence, does not go on the record, so could just pay and forget.

2> Can early resolution, bring down the ticket fine, only reason would be excellent driving record, last 10 years. If NOT, the person would not probably bother.

3> Is there the same thing as a fatal flaw on the ticket ? all details are correct though, signature of officer and date, including pic of car, set fine is shown as $260 total payment after surcharges is $325

Now, DUE to covid the "Date of deemed service" is not the same as the offence, for example, date of offence was 11 june, DODS was some date in July.. the ticket is not showing as available in payticket web site and a phone call to the COJ said that the ticket is not in there system, so could not be paid yet but there is due to covid an extension of 90 days... which takes it through to October.

If the person just "leaves" it, without checking again, would they get another notice or a bigger fine, or conviction in lieu, could it get lost in the system, ?

Any further ideas or thoughts ?

If you request an ER, they can reduce the fine to $200 plus costs (which is the minimum fine). That makes the total price payable $240. Unless there is something aggravating such as speeding or pedestrians in the picture, the prosecutor should be willing to reduce it to the minimum $200. That's as low as they can go now given the applicability of minimum fines (unlike a few years ago when they would go below the minimum).

You are correct in that the fine does not go against the driver in any way---it is the owner that is being charged. So, there are no demerits nor does it link to any driver's record. Its just a monetary penalty.

yeah in the picture, no pedestrians, but there is a car turning right into the junction and the other car can be seen looks pretty close, the guy said the other car beeped him loudly, I guess.

I think the guy may do an ER, but only if it falls on his offday so he doesn't lose any money, if not he'll prob. just pay it, think not due to extended til october now

should he post in the ER form now or wait till the extension is over
