Failure To Stop By Crossing Guard?

Unread post by sam45 »

Hello i recently passed a red light in Toronto about 2 seconds after it turned as i wasnt paying attention. As i passed the crossing guard whistled. There was no one crossing and no one about to cross at the time. Now my question is if he forwards my license plate to the police can i get a ticket? Or is that unlikely to happen? Thank you very much in advance.

They would need to identify you as the driver and they could only do that if you admitted it.

I suspect the likely outcomes are (in order of likelihood):

- the guard whistled at you and did nothing more

- the guard reported your plate and you get a letter cautioning you not to do it again

- they launch an investigation into who was driving and you don't tell them and that's it

My money would be on the first option

If police show up or call you, remember that you do NOT have to answer their questions and do NOT have to tell them who was driving your vehicle.
