Expired G2

by: elle86 on

My G2 expired in July 2012. I put up going for the G license due to a medical illness I have been experiencing for a few years. Can I get my g2 extended due to the illness?

No. You get 5 years. Once it expires, you're out of luck. You have to start over but you don't have to wait the mandatory wait times.

There are some circumstances that will get you some extra time. Some examples are:

  • - If you hold a G1 for more than 4 years before graduating to G2, you can get your license extended 5 years because it's impossible for you to graduate the system with the mandatory waiting period (1 year).

  • - If your G2 is expiring and you can only get a road test after that date, they'll issue you a temporary license up until the day of the test.

If you start the process again with 3 years of your license expiring, you don't have to wait the mandatory waiting periods. If you're proactive and book your testing where it's not so busy, you can be back at G2 as soon as there's an open spot available.

Thank you for the help. So I have until July 12, 2015 until the 3 years are up.

Are you sure they never make exceptions due to illness or death?
