Re: Undemocratic Parking Ticket Administrative Monetary Pena

And so the best way to beat the system is to not break the law...and that is clearly the primary intent of the system...win win! There is much more to it than that. Look at what's going on in the US where towns have been forbidden from giving tickets as a whole because of corruption. Look at other cases where the chiefs say go and get people because we need money, so they're out there harassing people who walk with a limp and drivers who are picking their nose. I'm afraid that there is much to tickets than just enforcing the law, almost everywhere it has been used as a revenue tool and with b...

Re: Expired sticker ticket

I think his main question is can it happen and the answer to that is yes. It is rare for a cop to tow you for a expired sticker but it can happen. I would think that the third time is about when they're going to want to enforce this. As the other poster mentioned look into a conditional pass. What you have to do is spend $400-$500 on parts and repairs and if it still fails after that they will give you a pass good for one year. Most fails can be repaired for much cheaper than that. I once failed because of a bad sensors and instead of waiting for the dealer and paying big bucks I went to the w...

Re: Ontario Insurance question regarding multiple drivers

Hi Bend. Thank you for this information, I really appreciate it. I'm disappointed that my broker didn't reveal this information to me. He was ready to take down my fathers license to begin checking him out for my policy. I figured there must be some way around this. I had always thought of a student room mate scenario where many people live in the same house and would all have to be under someone's policy. That just wouldn't work as one person would be paying for 5 people. My father will never drive this truck, he can't even get in without my help and if he needs a ride I will gladly drive him...

Re: Ontario Insurance question regarding multiple drivers

I read on a forum once there is some form you can file with your broker to say nobody else will drive it, but unsure of details since the poster didn't say what province he was in. Could have been in BC or something where the ins laws are much better.

Re: Ontario HTA on Front License Plate

I had a truck once with a cheap license plate holder and it was hard to find a replacement and had to be ordered from the dealer. I was pulled over for not having a plate but the police accepted the fact that it was broken and that I had it in the windshield. The only other thing I could have done would have been to gerry rig it but that would have eventually been a total loss.

Ontario Insurance question regarding multiple drivers

I would really appreciate some help here. I'm facing a divorce and have some tough issues. I'm moving back home to my parents after a divorce and my 70 year old father still has a license but doesn't drive, only rents once in a while, what's worse he hasn't owned for 20 years so he's like a new driver. As I understand there is a requirement to have him on my policy but this is absurd because I drive a Ram 3500 which he can't even get in and would never drive. There must be some way around this, I'm not reffering to a scam but more like a legal way around. I hope that I don't have to ask him to...
