Re: Am I entitled to get paid to show as a witness?
Insurance companies makes tones of money from everyone. Justice department gets paid well from many different sources. A good person stopping and signing a paper to be a witness is not treated well. There is simply no incentive to stop and become a witness. The court order surely won't be the end of it as then the civil case comes a long ...

Re: Mis-Identified vehicle for talking on cell phone charge
For all intents and purposes, the Pontiac Sunbird and (later) Sunfire are the same vehicle (GM's compact FWD J-car platform). GM just changed the name during the model's life.

Re: Beautiful speed trap in downtown Toronto
Hmmmm. Your story makes me wonder, "Under what conditions can the urban speed limit be set LOWER than 50 km/h?"
I've seen the limit lowered to 40 km/h in a school zone, which seems to make good sense. But there aren't any schools where the OP got nabbed on Davenport south of Dupont, so why would the limit there be only 40?

...Last night around 11:30pm, I was turning off a major street onto a residential street to stop at a gas station. I turned right onto the side street, then paused before starting to turn left into the station. As I began to turn, somebody came around the corner at a very high rate of speed, tried to drive around my turning car, and our cars ...

You may also wish to consult the fault determination rules under the Ontario Insurance Act: http://www.ibc.ca/en/car_insurance/documents/brochure/on-fault-determination-rules.pdf .
Then help me understand why people are passing yellow lines to get around me, and passing on the right... both of which in a residential area are illegal.

Lazy people leaving snow atop their cars...is it illegal?
It's one heckuva snow day here in Ottawa, today. Lots of heavy wet snow, poor visibility and slippery roads. Yeesh!
But what I don't understand is how many people fail to brush the snow off their cars before heading out on the roads.
I see people driving around with their windows completely covered...or big piles of snow on their rooftops, hoods ...

Woman drives on sidewalk to pass school bus [w/video]
This happened in Cleveland OH (not Ontario). Still, I've never seen someone do anything like this before. I can't imagine how she thought this was OK.
The judge didn't appreciate her actions either. He imposed a $250 fine, suspended her license for 30 days, and ordered her to wear an Idiot sign at the very spot where this took place.

Yes contact a Paralegal, theres a form at bottom...Note careless is kind a hard to prove, but its also given out for all accidents at fault .
???
Is this true? Is a "careless driving" charge normally issued for all at-fault collisions? This seems rather severe to me.

What is the fine for not having a front license plate?
Just wondering...
What is the fine for not having a front license plate on your vehicle? Does this charge carry demerit points too? Would it count as a "minor conviction" for insurance purposes if caught?
Thanks.

Re: 156 (1) (a) Drive wrong way - divided highway
Hmmm. Well I would agree with you that Cumberland Street is certainly NOT a divided highway at-or-north of Clarence. I would expect that the facts about whether or not this part of the roadway is a "divided highway" would be 100% relevant and material.
Unless you somehow got your north and south mixed up. Cumberland goes from being a one-way ...

Re: hit and run
So, let me get this straight...
You smashed into your next-door neighbour's parked car, and then tried to cheap him/her out when it came to fixing the damage...?? Wow, what a nice neighbour YOU are. Glad to see that your neighbour isn't as stupid as you were hoping he/she'd be.
Sorry I can't be more helpful than that.
