Operating Licence
My employer requires all trucks to carry an MTO Operating Licence, issued under the MOTOR VEHICLE TRANSPORTATION ACT, 1987, dated 1993. Pretty old permit.
No one seems to know what it is, why we carry it, or if it needs to be renewed.
Is it possibly the system that pre-dated the CVOR system?
Is it still valid after 24 years?
Are there any "older" drivers (no disrespect intended, I value your knowledge) that remember or know of this permit?

Just go to Service Ontario and as them to run the number.
You can always go to one of the MTO weigh scale stations and they will run the number on their system...CVOR's are now on an annual renewal...so I would think your number is long since expired...

On a sideroad, one-lane in each direction, I was caught doing 86 in a 60 for my first ticket in 10+ years of driving.
Background:
- mid-day, good driving conditions
- travelling in pack of 3-4 cars, going about the same speed
- offer driving in opposite direction pulls a u-turn and pulls me over
- 86 in a 60 ticket
- officer showed me his radar, it did say 86

From disclosure, the officers notes state the serial number of the radar unit and that it was a Genesis II Directional.
Also in disclosure were two pages of the radar manual (Field Tests section) and across the top of these pages it says Genesis II Directional (Rev 02/05). So the test pages match the model given in officers notes.

4 days ago, during the last GTA snow storm, I was merging to highway. The traffic was light and there was a truck moving in the right lane. I increased the speed but the truck accelerated as well and did not let me to enter the lane.
