Changing Court Date - Details
Situation:
I've received a notice of trial for a date that is inconvenient. Not impossible, but very inconvenient.
The court is 250km+ away from my residence. I would very much like to change my court date, but travelling to the court to do so would be pretty inconvenient as well. Would rather not, but don't want to hire a paralegal to do it, and don't have any family or friends in the region.
Questions:
1. Can I change my court date without appearing at the court where the trial will be held?
2. If so, how?
3. What is the deadline to file such a motion? Is there an optimal date to do so? Before or after disclosure is filed?

Re: Changing Court Date - Details
You can contact the prosecutor and see if they will consent to the adjournment request. If they are going to you usually just need to fax something to them and they will present it to the judge on the court date.
