Changing Trial Date

I had to change my lawyer for my traffic ticket last minute because I was not satisfied with the way that my case was being handled but my trial date is on feb 2. Is there any way that I can postpone the date so that my new council can get disclosure and represent me? Can i just appear on tuesday and tell them that?
