First to hk111: <I don't want to turn this into a flame war, but...> Be careful with the words you choose. You are coming across like a ne'er do well. The police have to follow the laws that govern their behaviour just like you have to follow laws that govern your behaviour. There are cops on this forum who spend their time posting valuable ...

Re: Enough is enough
Agreed, non compliant drivers and vehicles need to be taken off the road and I hope that plate recognition setup the OPP was or is testing works out. Hope Ontario finally gets the uninsured vehicles project thing sorted out too or introduces public insurance with rates that even the poorest people can afford.

Re: Before Entering a Plea (??)
Got it, thanks Simon. I fell for the ol' urban legend bit again!
I understand now. You have to plead SOMETHING to get the court date.
Ok, I feel like a bit of a fool for asking! lol
At least I didn't fall for the bit about the stop sign being illegal 'cuz it has a white border!!! lmao
Thanks again.

Before Entering a Plea (??)
Hi Everybody,
I was so pleased with your help on that MTO question, I thought I would give'er again, this time about courts and pleas.
This story was told to me like I'm telling it to you guys - I don't know if it's correct or not, but I wanted to ask.
Driver was given a ticket, but the driver felt the ticket did not apply to his situation. Then ...

Thanks a million guys!
I just want to say that I love that OHTA has current and former officers posting here. It helps so much to have peeps that know what they're talking about. I have seen other forums where the mods don't keep a close eye on the content and posters end up getting flamed all to hell...
Just saying that u guys have a great site ...

MTO powers
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the responses!
It is told to me like this: MTO officer was at the side of the road in the South Western region talking to another driver. The highway is one lane in each direction, and the ticket given to the driver was Fail To Move Into Another Lane for Emergency Vehicle (Section 159.1 (2)) MTO claims driver passed "too close ...

Can MTO pull over civilians?
Hi everybody - been a luker here for a while and learned a lot. Just wondering about a ticket issued by an MTO officer. I have heard that in 'certain regions MTO officers are forbidden to pull over civilians'? Can anyone confirm this? How on Earth would anybody find out what region they are talking about?
Thanks in advance!
