Duration Of Offence On Record

by: msbolton on

I apologize in advance if this is already asked but I'm curious about the length of time the offence is on a drivers record is for speeding. And as such is that duration started once the ticket is issued or once a conviction is filed?

Once a conviction is registered (paid ticket, plead guilty with explanation OR trial and found guilty$) the ticket is logged via the "offence date". All offences stay on your driving record for LIFE. If points are associated to the offence, 2 years after the offence you will lose those points. As far as how far back insurance companies look on a driving record for offences and/or collisions is usually 3-5yrs. (might be written somewhere?)
