Looking For Professional Advice - Reduced Ticket

by: hnguyen1 on

Hello,

Here's my situation:

I was driving along hwy 11/17. OPP was driving the other direction. He turned around, tailed me for a while, and I made sure I was driving 100km/hr. Finally, he pulled me over. He says he caught me driving 128km/hr over 90 km/hr down the hill "back there". I did not acknowledge that I was speeding. I gave him my driver's license and papers. I am registered as a Quebec driver.

He said he's not going to fine me for not having my papers updated. However, he gave me a reduced ticket saying "speeding 105 km/hr on 90km/hr zone". Fine $52.50.

Before he left, I went over to his vehicle to ask him how he caught me, and how his radar worked. He said he was not parked, that his radar on his dash board caught me when I drove passed him. There's also a machine at the back of the vehicle. I noticed a 127 digital red number on the machine. I thanked him and left.

Should I pay the fine? If so, why? What will be the consequences?

If not, why?

Pay the fine or fight the charge it's up to you. Question is can you prove you were not going 127 in a 90. 15 over isn't that bad....again it's up to you.
