Green Foglights, Need Advice

by: GaBrand02 on

So last night I got pulled over for the first time with my green Foglights. My foglights still have the origional white halogen but I wired in 2 green Led's per side, so I can switch between the 2.

The green is not bright at all, just glow.

Anywys I got pulled over, switched off the lights because I was nervous, but when he came up to the car he told me to turn them back on. Apparently because I turned them off then I must have known that they were illegal , and for the record I never knew green lights were illegal.

So he goes to his car, comes back and lets me off for "no front plate" which was on my dash, but writes me up for "improper headlights", quoting section 62 (6). and Gives me a $110 fine.

The officer knows they were on a switch and can be turned off anytime, but he assumed I've gotten in trouble for them before and still wrote the outrageous ticket.

So I went to the court house and the lady told me to use option 3...request a trial. So now I have to wait about 2 months to get the court date in the mail.

I'm thinking of going to see the prosecutor next week to see what they can do, because I have since disabled the green lights and put my front plate on.

Does anyone have any advice for me about this incident? Thanks.

Ignorance is not a defence.

Read some of the posts here, you may get the charges dismissed. Seeing as it wasn't your actual headlights that were the problem the crown may be willing to negotiate.

I'd perfer not to go to court, I just wanted to talk to someone about negotiating the infraction. Since I have removed the green in my foglights, and my headlights were not green.

How to I go about talking to the crown?

I've never done this before so I have no idea whats going on lol. I tried searching but I couldn't find anything :(.

Go to the courthouse early, an hour should do. The crown should be available before the scheduled time and you can chat then. Tell them what you have done, pictures would help and see what they'll do.

Bah, why can't it be simple. I should have just paid, but I listened to my friend instead about fighting it.

Does it have to be the same day it's scheduled? Or would I be able to, say, go in next week? I just brought the ticket in and did the option 3 thing on Thursday. So it hasn't even been a week since the incident.

Go back to the court house and ask for "First Attendance". If they do it there you can meet with just the crown and discuss.
