Re: Careless Driving...Do I have any defence?

I was slowing, Drifted left of center and hit him... I heard the officers talking about what the other driver said in his statement and he said I was 7/8 of the way into the wrong lane...however My car was right in the cener of the road after the acccident..and there was no damage to the side of my car behind the front wheel well so it is not like I turned back to the right and got back over at all...and my car did not move in any direction at the time of the incident I basically stopped in place. Will the position of my car be noted in the officer's notes? or will they go off of the other dri...

Careless Driving...Do I have any defence?

Hey everybody...I recently (About an hour ago) got in an accident directly infront of my house. I was heading Northbound and was slowing to turn left into my driveway. I was distracted by the truck in front of me Spraying dirt onto my windsheild and was fidling with the wipers Trying to get them to clean the window off and I drifted left over the line and hit the side of a gmc pickup By the time i saw him it was too late...I was going maybe 10 km/h and the truck was doing 80 or 90...I checked to see if the driver was ok and I said to him that I was "reaching for something" ...Now in ...

Road Closure Question

Hello. I just a have a couple quick questions about this part of the Traffic act. First i will give a little bit of a background Currently the road that I live on (Highway 21) Is closed and has been for a few days now. The Barriers that they put up are only located in a town 4km south of my home and 17km north of my home. All other entrances to the highway from crossroads are not blocked. In order to get to work I at least have to turn out of my driveway and go up to the next intersection which is only about 300 meters away, however this small dirt road is poorly maintained. The next available...

How hard should I fight a lost cause?

I recently got pulled over for speeding and would like some advice on reducing the charge on a plea bargain... If the issue makes it to court I will most definitely lose unless on a technicality like th officer no showing or having a successful 11b...when the officer pulled me over I did admit I was speeding and that I was headed to work and was a little late (he asked... I know officers don't accept the time management defense) I would like to see if I can plea bargain to a lesser charge but how aggressively should I fight the ticket in regards to disclosure requests and such... I read on ano...

Alright, well I think I would rather take that route..even if only to prolong the time i have to pay the fine. What exactly do I have to do to make a plea bargain (Sorry I dont know very much about the court system seeing as I've only ever had these 2 tickets). I assume I have to fill out option #2 on the back of the ticket but I am rather lost after that.

112 km/h in a posted 80 zone

Today I got ticketed today doing 32 over the posted limit ($232 fine), Earlier this month I was also ticketed for roughly the same speed (109 in an 80)...As the officer handed me the ticket today he said he wanted me to fill out the court option and call the crown because "there is something the crown can do that he cant do there"...I was just wondering what he was referring to and whether taking this route is a good idea or not...I dont want to end up spending money I dont have to go to court for little gain.

Small ticket...But also Small Bank account

Hello everyone...Tonight I received a ticked for "Failure to Surrender Licence" (Highway Traffic Act - 33(1)) because I could not find it at the time of the traffic stop...The ticket is in the amount of $110.00 which I think is slightly ludicrous in my opinion. However this $110 ticket is much more than I can afford right now between college debt, house payments, car payments and visa balance I am wondering whether I have a chance in court to at least get the ticket reduced if not dropped and here are the reasons why: 1) The officer never gave me a reason for pulling me over. I was d...
