But shouldn't an officer be held to the same standard as everyone else? If I were sitting in my car watching traffic and an officer saw my car parked in a "no parking zone", would I not be guilty of being illegally parked? In most circumstances, I'm sure the officer would come up to me and warn me to "move along" and I wouldn't put up a fight about ...

I received a "summons to appear" for the offence of Careless Driving. The officer wrote me a "pink" ticket, not a yellow one, and signed off on the fine and demerit points as being zero (i.e. no points, no fines, as he told me) As well, he filled in a court date, less than a month away from today.
