I have a question about the legality of turning right. A little background: I was Southbound on Hurontario St. (Highway 10) between Matheson and Bristol. I was in the right hand lane signalling to turn right into a driveway. There were people walking on the sidewalk which were preventing me from making the turn safely so I obviously had to wait to make the turn. Is this legal? I read in another post that it is illegal to stop or "stand" on a highway but in this case I was waiting to make a safe turn. Please let me know what you think. Obviously, if a police officer told me to move along then I would obey the direction but I just want to know if I was doing something wrong.

What you did was perfectly legal and reasonable. The provision you're referring to is section 170 of the HTA. Take a look at it here:

You'll note that provision doesn't apply within a municipality or built-up area. They can erect signs that say "No stopping" or "No parking," but if there's a traffic jam or other lawful reason for being stopped (such as your case), those don't apply. Those signs are there for people like those who park their car in a live lane on a busy street during rush hour while they get a coffee, or stop to let off passengers mid-block on a congested road (taxis & disabled permits have exemptions).
