Hello all,
Somebody rear ended me last week pretty badly.
My car is a write off and the officer who attended the scene emailed me his report.
I can see that the other driver was charged with careless driving but I can't seem to figure the rest out.
The report has numbers along the side of the page and the officer put different coloured circles corresponding to myself and the other driver.
It seems like I would need a reference page to see what each number refers to?
I would assume it's your typical motor vehicle accident report.
The form says: SR-LD-401 2012/05

Re: Insurance claims I was in an accident?
Thank you for the reply Argyll. I eventually got a hold of the insurance agent. He said they received a letter from a lawyer stating it was my car that hit them. When I asked for further details he wouldn't give me anymore until I threatened to call the ombudsman. He then said apparently I was involved in a "hit and run" with this car and rear ended a Chevy Aveo on September 9th 2016 at Eglinton and DVP. I mentioned to him again that I was driving a different car at the time of the accident, I did not purchase this car until 17 days later than the accident date and I have the bill of...

Insurance claims I was in an accident?
Hi everyone, I'm looking for some guidance as to what I should do. I got a call today from someone who claims they're from my insurance company and they left me voicemail along these lines "Good evening Tom, This is so and so calling from TD Insurance, just giving you a call in regards to a car accident you were in on September 9th 2016. Our records show that you didn't have insurance on this car until October 1st 2016 as a result your car isn't covered for damages. However the other people involved in the accident claim to be injured and have opened up a claim. I am gonna go ahead and lo...

When can a child sit in the front seat?
Good morning everybody.
Does anybody know when a child should be allowed to sit in the front seat of a car?
I tried looking around for answers but nobody has a definite answer.
I've heard different answers ranging from age 8 to age 14.
I know air bags can cause serious injury to children and sometimes it can be fatal.
However I can't find any law that sets out the guidelines.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Does this count as "Fail to remain"? What are my options
Thank you all for your replies. The person who hit my car ended up reporting it to the security personnel yesterday (a day after he hit my car). It is who I expected it to be so I went out and got a quote to fix my car and called him to let him know it's $1200. He said the price was too high and to give him one day to talk to his "mechanic". Am I getting myself into legal issues by allowing more time to pass by? Should I just go ahead and file a collision report now and wait for him to call me back? I'm worried if we end up going through insurance that I'll be asked why it took so lo...

Does this count as "Fail to remain"? What are my options
Hello everybody, I am wondering if you all could possibly help me out. My car is parked in a private underground parking at night when i'm home from work. This afternoon when I was walking to my car as I was about to head to work I saw the front of my car damaged. The front license plate has been completely ripped off of the bumper, and there's streaks of blue paint on my silver car as well. I've attached photos of the front of the car to this message. (one that shows the damage and one that shows the blue paint) Now, the car that parks next to me is a blue taxi cab (oddly enough it's the exac...

Re: Question about getting into an accident when turning lef
Hi Hawaii
Yes she had her turn signal on before turning.
It's just the way the rules were written that seems unfair.
Nothing she can do about it now since she has already reported it to insurance.

Thank you Stanton and CliffClaven for your replies.
I saw the part that Stanton was talking about where if the motor vehicle was overtaking multiple vehicles then the other vehicle is at fault.
Why does that change anything?
Howcome it's 50-50 when it's just 1 vehicle but 100% the other person's fault if they're overtaking more vehicles?
I'm guessing maybe because it would have meant the other driver would be in the "oncoming lane" for a lot longer period of time?

Question about getting into an accident when turning left
Hi Everybody, A friend of mine today got into a car accident as she was turning left into her driveway. Basically this is what happened, she was driving on a residential street, there are no markings on the street to seperate lanes but it's still a 2 way street (cars are allowed to head north and south on the street). She was heading north and approached her house which was to the left of her. As she was slowing down to make the left turn into her driveway the car behind her tried to swerve around her on the left of her to pass her not realizing my friend was making a left turn to get into her...

Re: Parking within 3m of fire hydrant, when it's more than 3
I remember when an officer gave me a ticket even though I was in the car.. I actually walked out of my car and took a few pictures of the officer standing next to my car and then a few pictures of the officers vehicle for the day with his license plates..the pictures were time stamped too! I was then told by the officer I could take as many pictures as I want but the ticket still stands and I will lose in court. Well I went through the proper procedure to have my pictures entered as evidence and the J. P dropped the charges, said the officer could have asked me to move mycar instead of iissuin...

Re: Told my 11B motion was defective
Did you remember to make the motion before entering a plea of any sort? I've filed for 11B twice and twice was successful. First time the prosecutor was nice and did everything for me, she called me up and told the JP i filed for an 11B and it was accepted. The 2nd time I had to work for it and educate the prosecutor on how an 11B works. I would agree with ticket combat's advice not to use any of their forms and to just type everything out yourself. I also didn't bother with the faxing of copies to different places, I took the time and effort to go in person to drop off each copy at the respec...

Re: 40km on a 30km area on Airport Terminal 1 Passanger Drop
Wait so if an officer gives me a ticket at the Airport for anything, it's not a HTA ticket?
My wife was told she made an "illegal u turn" a month ago because she was lost and drove to a dead end,
she ended up making a 3-point turn and the officer jumped out right away to say it was a U-Turn
I don't get it, if you drove to a dead end, how else do you turn around and leave?
anyway, he ended up letting her go with a warning, but if I get a ticket at Pearson Airport, it's not charged under HTA??

Re: 15 days to select option
I think it works both ways.
If you file for a court date the next day then it shows the court and the officer
You won't back down from a fight and you'reready for a battle .
On the other hand, if you wait it out then maybe the officer had other thingsto do
And forgot to file his paperwork properly.
I always file right away so if I end up filing for an 11b I tell the justice of the peace
That I'm very serious about the charge against me and I've waited long
Enough for this day to come to plead my innocence.

Re: Does speeding 10 km over the limit affect my record?
Any conviction on your record could affect your insurance rates.
It all depends on how your insurance wants to treat that ticket.
Demerit points mean nothing to insurance companies..
Mto is who keeps track ofyour ppointsfor ssuspension purposes only.
To insurance companies, a conviction for speeding means you were speeding even if it's only 10km over

Re: Not sure if I got a ticket or not
Thanks guys..
I just wish he'd be more specific during his explanation so I can sleep better at night lol
he ended the conversation with either "I'll let you go with a warning for now but don't do it again"
OR
"You'll be receiving something in the mail"
Then I'd be able to get this off my mind
