Re: Roadblock question
This didn't happen to be in Burlington, did it? I saw a very similar situation there, I think it was on Wednesday. No, KW area. Even on this forum i found a couple of simillar situations. I expect the officer to help rather than punish every time there's no real harm, intent or danger. The goal was to divert traffic as they were cleaning up the accident. So if sombody gets confused, help him out. Don't disrespect the person and threaten with a ticket. Abuse of the law in my opinion. Should have probably filed a complaint for the officers outburst. Talking about road rage incidents on the news...

Re: Roadblock question
If he's only blocking the left lane, a driver could make the argument that it appeared the officer was only trying to prevent left turns, not all traffic. There's also the wording of subsection 134(3), where it says "intentional disobedience." There appears to be nothing intentional in your actions. Inadvertent, perhaps, but not intentional. He was parked after the intersection i was crossing and insted of blocking both lanes he was only blocking the left one. When i pointed out that on the other side of the accident another police cruiser was blocking both oncoming lanes by parking...

How did this play out in the end for you?frost wrote: I would really like to fight it but if I lose then my insurance would most likely go up. I'm not concerned about the points.
Any suggestions would be appretiated.

Found the control devices in question here: https://www.canlii.org/en/on/laws/regu/ ... g-599.html
I think the officer didn't properly close the road. I bet that's why i didn't get the ticket.

Roadblock question
I came to a red light at an intersection where a police cruiser was blocking the left lane just past the intersection by parking across it. The right lane was still open. 200-300 meteres down the road was what appeared to be an accident. For some reason i figured I could still go through. So once the light turned green I cautiosly proceeded thorough the intersection in the right lane. The officer jumped out of his cruiser. I came to a stop and asked if i could go through. He yelled at me took my licence and registration threatning with a ticket, went back to his cruiser. Came back in a few min...

I also heard that security guards shouldnt touch you if the alarm on the exit went off as they may be charged with assault, wrongful imprisonment or even kidnapping. Thats why I never stop when that happens to me. Although I saw a security guy at LCBO handcuff a guy with booze in his pockets and I see all the time security guards dragging shoplifters outside through the mall and wait for the police officer to arrive. Really interesting what rights they have.

That's a lot of tickets and a dumb situation altogether. You could argue the grounds on which you were stopped in the first place. "The police are stopping motorists on an entirely arbitrary basis to question them and determine if they have been drinking. The police have no grounds to reasonably suspect that the driver has committed, was committing or was about to commit a criminal offence before the driver is requested to stop." http://www.ontariohighwaytrafficact.com/topic1181.html You should probably seek legal advice in that matter, as the no insurance charge is pretty serious. A...

Child restraint system / booster seat
My son is almost 3 years old now. I was moving to a new place a few weeks ago, and I took the car seat out of the car as i was moving some things in it. Once I was done, I went to pick up my son and forgot to put the seat back in. Luckily no one saw my son in the back seat and reported me. I saw the video below before so I wasn't worried and my son looked pretty comfy with real seat belt)) Very interesting video on child restraint systems / booster seats: http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/steven_levitt_on_child_carseats.html I was actually looking for regulations on booster cushions, what age ...

Representation form
A friend of mine got a ticket for parking at visitor parking in front of the building where I live (apparently you have to write down your license plates each time you do that). I wanted to go to court for him to dissmiss the ticket.
Is there a sample form that he has to sign so I could represent him?

I went today into court, pleaded guilty with explanation. The judge was the nicest person and she suspended the fine meaning I get my conviction but don't have to pay any fine. So 2 dollars for the parking in front of the court house and 110 dollars in my pocket saved.
It is really interesting to sit in the court just listening to what people have to say and to judges comments. After I walked out could already see the prosecutor and a lot of cops outside waiting for the trials to start. That would be the interesting stuff, but had no time to wait for it to start.

The only one I could find is here:
that's a us version as I understand different from the one I've seen but same idea.
So from what I understand the officer takes an estimate then flips the radar on to see the reading. If thte radar is in instant on would it lock the speed? I also wonder if all these radars show the direction in which the car whose speed is being measured is travelling in?
The other thing is the officer did lose me out of sight not for long but did lose me, I wonder if that would be a legitimate defence.

For a long time in Europe all the radars have a video screen, no need to prove much, the video recording will show exactly who the laser hit. you are mentioning 2 different types of units there....which is it? I've seen the one they have in the car, you get pulled over, they ask you into the police car, show you the video with your plates and the target at your car and live speed if you slow down it shows it all recorded. Again you are mentioning 2 totally different types of units. 1) LIDAR - must be used in stationary mode only 2) RADAR - can be used in stationary or moving mode. Both are ac...

I would only issue an offence notice if I believe there are grounds for a successful conviction of the charge. I have never issued an offence without grounds, hence never to an innocent person. If there were a mechanism to check if you are right or not there would be no trials. The longer people do the right thing or the wrong thing the more they believe that they are in fact right and the less open minded they are. For a long time in Europe all the radars have a video screen, no need to prove much, the video recording will show exactly who the laser hit. You are still not telling what instru...
