How to file a ticket and request trial during COVID?
I got a speeding ticket on lawrence ave E just west of Victoria park for doing 75km/hr in a 50km/hr zone. I swear lawrence is 60km/hr and not 50km/hr
Anyways I have 15 days to file the ticket since yesterday and i can't seem to find anything on how to file this ticket and request for trial during this pandemic.
If anyone has any information please share

75km/Hr In A 50km/Hr But Should Be 60km/Hr Is This An Error?
Hi all,
as the topic reads i got a speeding ticket on lawrence ave E just west of Victoria park ave. The ticket says i went 75km/hr in a 50km/hr zone but last i checked lawrence is suppose to be 60km/hr and even google street view shows speed posts reading 60km.
Not sure if speed limit changed or not but i will have to go back and check to see if it was actually 60 km/hr or not.
Anyways is this considered a ticket error?

Re: If you almost hit pedestrian...can you get a ticket if they report you to police?
pretty much whenever the officer handling the case gets to the file. they took around 2-3 months to give me a call. Unless someone is seriously injured they will not rush anything.
So relax no need to have anxiety. if no contact was made and witness or video to show that contact was made you got nothing to worry about. Even if they call you just tell them i do not wish to make a statement. worst case scenario if they do, take a lawyer with you it will scare them away for petty cases like ours.
so enjoy your life

I was in a similar situation like you. still am now fighting it cause she is trying to sue for money now. in summary. I was waiting to make a right turn on a red light. so I am just chilling there not moving waiting for traffic to clear. To do that I had to inch forward a bit to observe oncoming traffic. So i was over the pedestrian crosswalk where i was waiting to safely make my right turn. The pedestrian was then banging on my hood yelling at me that she is going to report me. obviously i thought nothing of it and when it was safe to do i completed my right turn and she had took down my lice...

Re: insurance renewals
There are a few insurances that offer pretty sweet deals such as discounts part of professional associations or other things. Try TD, Desjardins, Sonnet or State Farm. As far as the driving monitor app you can always disable your location or not grant access to your location on your phone and the app can't track you. Also any bad driving will not negatively impact your premium. You can always delete recorded trips because the app has no way of knowing who was driving. You can be on a bus while the app is running or be a passenger in someone elses car. So there is no way they can bump your rate...

Fight it. I don't believe he can just charge you with something else in court. It does not hurt to ask for disclosure and a trial date.
You can always plead guilty at the time of trial if you do not wish to fight it at that time. So you will not lose anything by requesting a trial and asking for full disclosure and it is to your advantage.
Once you have full disclosure then you can see what evidence is used against you i.e officers notes. You can always come back here and let us know what was disclosed and maybe you'll find an answer.

Re: careless driving because pedestrian claims my car hit her
Hi Everyone,
Sorry for all the questions but I was wondering if someone can tell me how I can order a court transcript of my traffic charges I fought a year ago and got them withdrawn. I am hoping this transcript can lead to some kind of evidence that can discredit this woman and her accusations so she does not win any settlement from my insurance.

Re: Starting a new insurance policy
It is very common they do a check during ever renewal. But obviously from a business stand point it can get very costly to do a check on ever policy holder. So usually they will go for red flags but even if you are a clean driver there is still about a 50/50 chance they might just do the check anyways a company procedure.

Re: Starting a new insurance policy
If you never had your trial yet, then your driving abstract is clean because you have not been convicted of the offense yet.
So no when your insurance company asks if you have ever been convicted of a driving offense in the last 3 years you tell them no. On your next renewal if the insurance companies request an abstract they can see when you were convicted and they will raise your insurance accordingly.
But you are doing nothing wrong by telling them that you have no driving convictions.

Re: careless driving because pedestrian claims my car hit her
Well I just want to put this behind me and not think about it anymore. Too much of a headache. But just for my own knowledge can't I sue her for like not showing up to traffic court to dispute my 3 charges I got withdrawn back last year. For wasting money on a paralegal, time off work etc.

Re: careless driving because pedestrian claims my car hit her
Got a call from my Insurance lawyer saying that they have been hired by my insurance company to deal with this matter. They told me that they are suing for more then the $1 mill coverage that insurance companies provide and that if they win I will have to pay the difference out of my own pocket. I think they wanted to go for like $2 mill or something Is this normal?? that they usually go over someones insurance policy? I mean she can try to claim that but the fact is I don't have a house or any other assets lol So she can't take money that I don't have. I wonder what kind of drugs she is on lol

Re: insurance renewals
My insurer uses an app that monitors your driving and if you get a good score they give you a discount of up to 25% (You will never get this unless you get 100%) on your next renewal.
Sad to say my insurance company decided i was in an at fault accident for something that never happened but couldn't prove it. However I did good on the app and got a pretty good discount that lowered my insurance by $40/month even with an at fault accident.
And being part of a professional association also reduced my insurance by $100/month back when i was still considered a "Student" (Under 25)
