Correction; OAP 1. Ontario Auto Policy, available online at FSCO's website. This is the standard driver's auto policy. Typo on my part, the OAP4 is a commercial garage auto policy.

Ironically, the MTO sent a letter to my home indicating that they believed that the car was unisured and when plate renewals come I would have to show proof of insurance - but the letter came a couple of weeks after the accident - just a little too late. And before that is jumped on - I don't belie...

He would be indemnified by his insurer and they would go after the uninsured party.

3 years for insurance for rating purposes. (They will also disappear from the abstract after 3 years). Based on date charged, not the offense date.

Once the ownership changes hands, the insurance is no longer valid. You will need to notify your insurer/set up a new policy in your name.

You would provide the MTO with your insurance information in order to get a temporary permit or plate. Then you have 14 days to advise your insurer. Whichever date your vehicle was added to your policy was the day coverage commenced, no chance of getting that changed now.
