Re: Parking ticket - trial (non)-notification by mail
What me worry? No plans to pay unless I'm found guilty. Just wondering if I might see a conviction registered against me when I go to renew my drivers licence next time round. Is there a way to check my own record without actually reminding them about this particular ticket?

Parking ticket - trial (non)-notification by mail
I received a parking ticket in Toronto Dec 20, 2009. When I filed for a trial date, the clerk at Metro Hall told me to expect something in the mail by July, notifying me of a date and location. July has come and gone, and so, soon, shall August.

Parking infractions and disclosure requests
Do disclosure rules apply to parking tickets? In particular, am I entitled to any officer's notes? Are any ever taken? What should I ask for in a disclosure request?

Re: Cop shows, 'no evidence'
That's possible, but when my friend signed in out in front of the courtroom, the prosecutor told her she'd talk with the officer beforehand; and she implied that disclosure could be a simple matter of the officer showing my friend his notes, which - in her words - might be as simple as 'motorist proceeded to turn on an amber light.

Cop shows, 'no evidence'
I accompanied a friend to court, to see how things would go. He was in the same situation. Had asked twice for disclosure, none provided. My friend was actually tired of the process, age 60-something, perfect driving record, and was actually willing to plead to a lesser charge that would have dropped him from 3 to 0 points (for an amber light turn ...

Re: Disclosure requests (detail question)
Thanks. Makes sense.
But if one asks for disclosure using the form, and they don't hand over what you are truly entitled to in order to conduct an adequate defence, are you able to state in court what you shouldn have, and did not, receive? And would that carry any kind of legal weight.

Disclosure requests (detail question)
When filing for disclosure, the Ontario form has nowhere for me to list the items I want disclosed. For speeding, offhand, I think I would want at least relevant Lidar information, typed officer's notes, and perhaps on occasion any specific rules or bylaws, such as those effecting a Community Safety Zone.
