I'm pretty sure I will get the whole thing checked by the O.P.P. and get my sticker that all the saftey stuff is present at the beginning of the year. I will also talk to the local law enforcement and bring this to their attention so that there are no complications when they do check the boat later in the summer. And I will carry that paperwork as well.

I ended up not getting jail time when I was convicted last week. $1500 fine and 12 months additional suspension. How do I get about clarifiaction from the courts ? If I can drive a boat, I would like to have that information, as you mentioned, incase I am stopped on the water. That's only IF I can drive a boat which I think is questionable.

Driving Disqualified

Does a confiction of this offence (Criminal Code) usually come with jail time ? Also, I noticed that the paper work has a box that is available to be checked to disqualify me from driving a vessel and it is not checked off. Does this mean that a boat is possible to drive if I have my pleasure craft license ?

I've read the link over and I understand it as it is okay to park on the shoulder of the 401 except in indicated areas. My father reads it the opposite way. Which one of us is correct ?

Parking on the side of the 401

My father received an email from a retired police officer when he proposed the question as to whether it was legal to park on the shoulder of the 401 for an extensive period of time. The response was that it was not permitted to park on the shoulder of multi lane highways unless emergency or breakdown. I am trying to find where it states this in the OHTA. I found section 170. Just wondering in the shoulder is considered part of the roadway. I am looking for the portion of the act that backs the officer's statements. It appears a little ambigous to me though when I read that section. Any commen...

Pacing

Is there anyway to argue the use of pacing in court ? Can you request to see recent speedometer calibrations ? Also, can radar be used from a car that is following a vehicle ? I always thought it had to be from approaching traffic. I guess technology has probably developed so that this is possible....same concept, different calculation to determine time differential ?

Ya, it's the criminal one. I sort of misunderstood the difference at first. I've learnt a few things in the past few days. I've already started inquiring into assistance already.

hwybear makes a good point. Something I had not considered at the time. I'm wondering if it seems reasonable that those options did not cross my mind at the time ?
