Re: I Have a 8Plate Sticker Fine Question..Please Help!

If a pickup truck is registered as a commercial vehicle then the license plates will be black on white. The validation tag will then go on the top right of the front license plate. If the license plate is blue on white then the validation tag goes on the rear upper right of the plate.

Re: A question about tires poking past the fender

If the tires on any motor vehicle or trailer extend beyond the protection of the body of the vehicle to either the left or right side of the motor vehicle then the motor vehicle will not pass a safety inspection. This means that it is unlawful to drive said vehicle on the roadway because it would be unsafe. Also tires extending behond the sides of motor vehicles are not protected from sending a spray to the rear of the vehicle. Many pickup trucks are getting away with this because the police even have them themselves. My windshield was hit by a stone from just such a vehicle. I managed to get ...

Re: Just "beat" my Careless Driving charge thanks to you guys!

If you say that you beat the charge you are not correct. You had no trial and no presentation of evidence by either side was given. You beat nothing. The crown withdrew the charge of careless driving. This by no means means you were not guilty of the offence charged. The wrong charge was likely lain because the officer was not interested in seizing your car and having it tested for vehicle malfunction and vehicle safety. Your brakes failed, as you say, because of an unsafe vehicle that you were driving. If your vehicle was properly maintained by having regular maintenance performed at every oi...

Re: Questions regarding HTA 78 & 78.1

The new VW van due out in 2019/2020 has a dash-wide display in which you can move instruments on the 4 ft.
to any position you wish them to be by touch-screen. This pretty well negates any argument over screen size.
The only exemption to the public sector for using hand held devices that I know of is for Amateur Radio Operators.
This allows them to use a hand-held microphone for the purpose of two/way communications. I believe this exemption ends in 2021. By that time amateur radio will have hands free operations available.

Re: Vehicle lights.

You must always bear in mind who gets the last laugh in most of these matters. I do believe that having white headlights is more beneficial than amber for safety reasons. White light projects further ahead and provides a safer driving environment. Yes you are allowed amber lights to the front. Remember that you are allowed no more than 4 lighted headlamps to be activated at the same time. Some vehicle modifications have 4 headlights and 2 additional fog lamps. That is an offence to have them on at the same time. Headlights must also be adjusted to project light in a correct manner and not too ...
