Re: Lic suspended due to unpaid fine
You're actually lucky you got stopped when you did and all you got was a suspension notice. After 7 days of a suspension being valid you are "deemed served" your notice by the Ministry to the last address they have on file for you. Any time after that 7 days and you would have been charged with driving under suspension and still had to pay the outstanding fine, $150 to the MTO and show up in court for the drive while suspended charge. WOW - never knew that. Why are the rules so strict, esp for ppl that have obeyed the laws all their life and done nothing wrong except get a ticket on...

Re: Lic suspended due to unpaid fine
I do have to say though that the process of suspended for a 3 days EVEN AFTER you have paid the fines AND having to pay $150 to get the license re-instated is a complete joke and cash-grab. Just to clarify this, you're not actually suspended during this time. Once you pay off your fines with the court, you are no longer suspended. At that time your licence reverts to "unlicenced" status, same as if it had just expired. The MTO may want you to wait 3 days until you can get your licence reactivated (back to "licenced" status), but that's not a continuation of your suspension...

Re: Lic suspended due to unpaid fine
Yup - after some serious thought not gonna risk it - just gonna get the Duchess (wife) to drive me.

Is the province this broke that it has to track down ppl for unpaid fines? WTF?! Whatever happened to having to pay it before you re-new your license.

Lic suspended due to unpaid fine
So this am I got nabbed by a cop. I KNOW he had one of those scans that quickly runs your license plate for unpaid fees, amber alerts, etc. Anyways, I had a fine of $160 due to speeding in Cornwall that was due May 25. My fault - I totally forgot, got caught up with work, life, blah blah. He took my license away, gave me a pink slip telling me it was suspended until the fine is paid. As soon as I got to work this am, I called the court office, paid the ticket in full. NOW, apparently I have to wait at least 3 days before I can even go to a license office to get my license back! WTF!! My ques i...

That won't get your ticket tossed. Just talk to the crown try to find a middle ground. The obs view will probably get tossed without even asking, and then request a lower speed with a guilty plea. Could be that easy. All depends on the crown.
Its Cornwall, or should I say Cornhole. I have heard its one of the worst places to get a ticket and getting a deal. I guess I had better wear pants that can easily be undone and bring some lube with me.

Re: Ticketed 131 in 100 zone
I was just going through the info last night - trying to get my "Law & Order" defense ready for my First Attendance next week and noticed that the summons to appear for First Attendance spelled the name of my street wrong.
I have heard of tickets being thrown out due to spelling errors in names, etc - anyone know if I can use the mistaken address on the First Attendance notice?
I checked the tix and everything is accurate on them

Re: Ticketed 131 in 100 zone
Thats just the point though - this mtg is called a First Attendance, which means I will more than likely be meeting with the prosecutor. Will the cop be there also?Reflections wrote:Personally, that obstructed view ticket is a non-issue.... if they won't just drop it ask if the officer was ever sitting in the drivers seat....ticket dismissed. I agree with Simon thou, you can never guarentee what offer may come up.
I am starting to lose sleep over this and its not for another 2 weeks!!

Re: Ticketed 131 in 100 zone
So my first attendance mtg is next mos, March 9 in Cornwall. Yay me - I have to drive from Oakville to Cornhole.
I was given 2 tickets in Oct 2010 - one for going 131 in a 100 zone and the other ticket for having a GPS in my window right below the rear-view mirror (obstructing view).
What am I to expect at this first attendance? Will the person be a real witch? What should I be prepared to deal with?

Ticketed 131 in 100 zone
Was issued my very first ticket last week - doing 131 in 100 zone along the 401 near Cornwall.
I have mailed back the ticket stating I am fighting it in court and requested the officer be there @ trial.
What can I expect when I go? I was told by a few ppl at work that more than likely I would be offer a plea bargain - am I offered that before the trial date or on the date I go to trial?
