Ontario Highway Traffic Act

I have received a ticket, I was not the driver but it was my car (how is that fair?).
I understand I can sometimes get the ticket reduced by half, is this true?
I am wondering the process involved, I assume I request a trial, but do I ask to talk to the prosecutor before that or after I ask for a trial? And do I make an appointment or do I just ...
