Ontario Highway Traffic Act

I was pulled over earlier today, never had a ticket in my life.
the officer took my license and check all my paper work. he came back to my car and said he'd be giving me a ticket for $240 and 2 demerit points and he said i could leave.

is there no documentation they're suppose to give? because he never gave me any kind of paperwork. Or was he ...
