i want to know if anyone can help me out, i got pull over back in may last yr and the cops show me the radar telling me i was doing 79km in 50km zone which is 29 over 3 points ticket but at the end she give me a ticket that is 80km in 50km zone 4 points ticket....and the fine was $140....and i was just ckecking ticketcombat.com over 30km should be $7x30+tax which comes up to $220 and what the cops used to calculate my ticket was $4.5x30 which mean that she was using over 20-29 range to calculate my ticket....should i use a ticket fighter or should i just go court myself? my court date is in march[/list]

Re: Radar show 79km in 50km zone but ticket show 80km in 50km
If the ticket says speeding 80 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, and the total payable is $140 (or even the set fine for that matter), then yes, you have a ticket bearing a fatal error. You may be interested in reading this thread:

He was ticketed for speeding on the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto, but the set fine and total payable were not correct on the ticket. He did not show up for his trial. Actually, he contacted the Prosecutor and said "are you going to withdraw the charge?" When they said "no," he did not show up. This meant that the JP had to examine the ticket to make sure the important parts were right ("complete and regular"), and if they weren't, he was supposed to throw out the ticket. Unfortunately, the JP erred and entered a conviction. So Off_Camber had to appeal... and he won.
This only works if you don't show up for trial. If you do show up, they can fix the error. If you don't, they can't. Be ready to appeal, though. Usually the JPs simply enter the conviction without examining the ticket to see if it's properly made out, so an appeal is usually necessary to get the ticket quashed. That's because most JPs are political appointees who have been to 2 weeks of JP school and never attended law school; Justices who handle appeals and sit on higher courts have been to law school and have substantial legal knowledge and experience.
If you do use a paralegal, discuss this particular option with them. Do some research into it and see what you think. It is possible to do it yourself but if you have any doubts hiring a professional is never a bad idea.

Excessive Speeding in Quebec
In 2011, I got hit with a nasty ticket over in Quebec, 135 in a 70. That's fine, I knew what I was doing, and I faced the consequences.
I plead not guilty however, just because my insurance renewal was coming up and I thought I may as well buy my self a year, fast forward to 2014, is when I finally…
Early Resolution? Do they even care?
So the other day I got caught looking at the GPS on my phone at a red light and I got the hefty $490 fine that is now given for "distracted driving". The fine is whatever, I can pay that, but because I only have my G2 license I supposedly get my license suspended for 30 days. This is the problem, I…
149 km/h on the 401
Hey all,
I was recently busted doing 151 km/h on the 401 (officer bumped it to 149 to avoid impounding the rental). I realize I screwed up pretty hard, but I can't afford the insurance hike; so I really want to avoid this. I've been doing some research and found that she improperly calculated my set…
Speeding ticket - court in 10 days
Hi! I got a speeding ticket on County Road 6 Tiny Twp, $95 fine. It was roadside speed trap in an 80 kmh zone.
Unfortunately I took a long time to get organized (moved to a house in Dec / Jan). My court date is March 9.
Is it too late to request disclosure? What are my next steps?
Thanks!
I didn't get a ticket, but need help on some research.

My trial for a speeding ticket is coming up. I have followed recommendations off ticketcombat website and have sent 3 disclosure requests (without phone number) and have received nothing. At the day of trial it will be about 10 months since the ticket was issued.
