Charged with carless driving, But wrong first name on ticket

I was charged with careless driving, but the officer wrote down my fathers first name on the ticket instead of my own. (we have completely different first names) The rest of the ticket has my own drivers license and date of birth.

Is this ticket voided? if so, how do I go about getting it thrown out?

Unfortunately, I don't believe it will be a fatal error and they can amend it in court.

The fact they got your correct driver's license info will allow them to do that. If you were not driving, they wouldn't have been able to pull you over, get your license and write it down. I'm assuming the car is in your dad's name, and that's why they made a mistake and wrote it down. The flip-side would also be true; if your name was right but your license number was wrong, they can amend that as well.

I would suggest describing what you did, or what the police officer is saying you did so we can get a better idea. you might be able to defend yourself simply by saying that you werent driving carelessly because "careless driving" is a high standard to prove.

I was driving down the highway, and 2 cars infront of me came to a stop. The car infront of me slammed on its brakes and unfortunately i eneded up rear ending that car into the first one.

I believe the car in front of me got charged too, I am not sure with what though as I am still waiting on a police report
