Use Of Cellphone Ticket

Unread post by gawker »

Hey everyone,

So I received a ticket for use of cellphone. It was a red light and I just had a quick glance. A cop saw me and thought I was texting. I won't make any excuses for my behaviour but I am wondering if there are any demerit points associated with it? I requested a trial and decided to go to court to request for leniency on my first offence, perhaps reduce the fine and more importantly ensure that there are no demerit points. What are my options for when I go to court?

Thanks

There are no demerit points with that offence and there's probably a reasonable chance you'll be offered a reduced fine, especially in exchange for a guilty plea.

You don't need to request a trial just to get in front of a judge and ask for a reduced fine. That's what option 2 is for - to plead guilty with an explanation.

NOTHING I SAY ON HERE IS LEGAL ADVICE.
