Just Wondering Re - Speeding Ticket Revenue

by: grammy on

Does anyone know whether a ticket issued in a municipality under the Highway Traffic Act is revenue for the municipality or for the province. This came up in discussion yesterday and am wondering if anyone the answer and where I might find it in the Highway Traffic Act.

Thanks :?:

My area is Provincial Hwy and revenue goes right to the Municipality....and I work for the Province. Municipality runs the courts.

Not sure at year end if any percentage goes back to the Province or not as it was a Provincial Highway where the offence happened. OR if the Municipality just pays the JP's wages and keeps the rest

Above is merely a suggestion/thought and in no way constitutes legal advice or views of my employer. www.OHTA.ca
