I received a notice yesterday regarding a notice of cancellation dated for January 16th. I will have to wait a 12 month period or 8'month if I enter a drive school program. Will these waiting periods be extended if I wait longer to hand in my license??

If I'm choosing to abide by the law (which I should)..will I have to contact my insurance company and let them know my current situation?
