Hi friends, someone I know got a ticket for "fail to lower beams for on coming "commercial vehicles"? Is it different from normal oncoming traffic? He was driving a tractor trailer(18 wheeler). How many demerit points?two? How long will be this on his CVOR? Please help me, I will appreciate it. e mail:brightmoon@hotmail.ca

The charge is "Fail to use lower beam - oncoming". The "commercial vehicle" at the end simply is referring to what you're friend was driving, not the type of oncoming traffic. Commercial vehicles are subject to higher fines then regular vehicles ($240 vs $110) but the demerit points are the same. For this particular charge it would be 2 points.

Remember though that the charge for commercial motor vehicles also carries CVOR points - I believe it's 1 for this offence.
