Hello everybody. Can anyone please tell me whether the security machine at the entrance to the court building in Markham Road (Ontario) is an x-ray machine or metal detector? I am talking about that machine you walk through which similar to at the airport security one.

Any danger to a pregnant woman ?

So if you are pregnant, is it possible to request to walk around the machine ?

I don't think they use x-ray detectors on people, it's a metal scanner, so it's safe
you can "always" request a walkround and physical search

""From a radiation standpoint there has been no evidence that there is really any untoward effect from the use of this device [backscatter scanner], so I would not be concerned about it from a radiation dose standpoint – the issues of personal privacy are a different thing," he said. The health effects of the more common millimeter wave scanner are largely unknown, and at least one expert believes a safety study is warranted. "I am very interested in performing a National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements study on the use of millimeter-wave security screening systems," said Thomas S. Tenforde, council president. However, no long-term studies have been done on the health effects of millimeter wave scanners."

think that it's VERY low level x-ray, you'd get more radiation from standing out in the sun LOLZ

also it would depend if your going through them everyday

but pretty sure there safe

Best thing would be to just ask them if its an xray machine when you get there.
