The only way to argue such a charge would be a statement that you had to make a right turn immediately after the left turn, in which case you do not have to make a left turn to a left lane. The road on which you had to make a right turn has to be very close to the intersection. If that was not the case however - good luck. Keep us posted on your ticket though, this is interesting.
