Ticket With Placeholders Instead Of Actual Speed

Unread post by some_guy »

Posting this on behalf of a friend of mine. He was told verbally by the police person that he was being ticketed for driving 84 in a 60 zone. However the ticket that he was given does not contain the speeds. Instead it reads:

Code: Select all

Did commit the offence of:

SPEEDING [MVACTUALSPEED] KM/H IN A

[MVMAXIMUMSPEED] KM/H ZONE

Contrary to:

Highway Traffic Act

HTA 128

You gotta love technology. Research how to force a fatal error.

I know eh? I wonder how many bad tickets were handed out that day before they noticed.

I found: http://www.ticketcombat.com/offences/fatal.php and http://www.ticketcombat.com/offences/fi ... forceerror

So, don't contest the ticket, do nothing, the justice will eventually examine the ticket and should throw it out at that point (based on London vs Young and POA section 9(1)b). If they don't, appeal.

This thread/comment seems relevant: http://www.ontariohighwaytrafficact.com ... tml#p34362
