Photo Evidence From Iphone

by: HenryH on

There was a thread previously about how to get your photos admitted in court (or at least a good chance).

Regarding these two points:

- RAW format of the original photos if digital, on CD or memory card

- time stamp on photo

iPhones don't shoot/save in RAW as far as I know. Could these just be the JPGs saved from the phone?

Is a time stamp on the photo printed absolutely necessary?

Having RAW format is not absolutely necessary, however if any question arises about the authenticity of the photographs, RAW would eliminate any question of Photoshopping.

Time stamp is needed to prove the dates and time the photos were taken. I have seen collision scene photographs without them, but those are easy to prove the date and location by the scene.

Photographs depicting a location with signs, etc have no reference points like a collision.

When all is said and done, it's up the the JP whether they may be admitted. Even if you follow the guidelines.
